This is my banter for Tuesday August 20th..

Hello all you beautiful people:: Monday has come and gone and we are starting our walk through the week. I hope your Monday was prosperous, and fun for all you came in touch with.. Last night it rained a lot, and for along time.. I went out in the morning with the puppies and stepped into a puddle of water.. I didn’t expect there would be any water on the porch rug.. As I looked towards the stairs, the rug was dry and so were the deck boards.. I think the coolness of the water startled me, as I turned to see what the wet was from.. It was the kind of surprise you get when you are walking around, looking out for doggie bombs.. You watch so carefully, missing everyone you see.. As you turn one doggie bomb gets ya, as it squishes between your toes.. ‘That kind of surprise’.. And, yes.. I have found a few of those, doggie bombs over the years.. The feeling makes your whole body shiver. The water did surprise me.. The air had a coolness to it, yet it was hot. That could be because of the direct sun light we get on our patio doors. I have thermal, black out curtains, and they seem to do a pretty good job. The sun does shine full out on the windows for the better part of the day.. But, any hoo the day was starting out pretty darn nice.. I even found time later in the afternoon to sit on the porch, and play my game..

DSCN1507.JPG         Beautiful peach colored Begonias..

This game drives me insane.. All I want to do is master the cards, so I can win.. The saddest part of the game is that half the time, there are cards that come up and you can’t use them anywhere.. It’s crazy when you are doing good, and you run into a deck that hinders your winning.. It’s very frustrating.. I have had a couple games that if you purchase points you will win.. But, is that all worth it.. I like to keep going on and trying to out smart the game.. Somedays all you can do is win, then there are those days when the game messes with your mind.. I am not a gamer, just a solitaire, yatzy, and cribbage player.. Helps me pass the time when there is nothing to do.. It calms me down, then heats me up again.. My hubby will laugh at me sometimes, as I talk to the game. ‘Yup, that proves it.’ ‘I am going loony.’ It’s a space filler in between loads of laundry. ‘Yes today was the day for doing the laundry.’ ‘I didn’t have much, which was nice.’ That was done and over with long before dinner time.. The couple next door had their grand-daughter through out the day.. They were in their yard, and my two little dogs barked at the little girl.. They would never hurt her, they just act tough.. I have this house that emits a sound they don’t like. I turned it on high and two little dogs stopped barking went inside the house.. It’s nice when things work like that.. DSCN1549.JPG                   Tiny flowers…

As I have said before, picking out something to make for dinner is stressful.. If it was just me I would have a grilled cheese, or egg salad sandwich. That would be good for me.. Unfortunately, that won’t feed two hungry fellas.. There has to be something else to fill the hunger.. Tonight, it was pork tender loin on the barbeque, potatoes, and some kind of veggie.. Right now, I can hear my mind thinking about tomorrows dinner.. ‘Hey, how about Kraft dinner??’ Not in this house.. I’m the only one who would eat it.. I have a meat and potatoes kind of hubby, and grandson.. Once in while a sandwich with fries will hit the spot.. I like to cook, but just sometimes I want a break away from the stove.. I had no idea that Princesses had to work so hard.. Ha! Ha! Only in fairy tales and the movies.. I guess we are all facing the same dilemma each day.. And we carry our burden with pride.. So, cook on, and be proud of what you create.. 🙂 Till later.. Take care and be safe.. 🙂 🙂

At this time I would like to thank those who take the time out of their busy lives to read my banter.. Thanks.. 🙂 🙂  The photos in my banter are taken by myself.. Maggie Enjoy!! 🙂 🙂

Great times…

This is my banter for Monday August 19th..

Hello everyone:: How the heck is everyone on this Monday in August.. I would almost bet that all of you had a great time with your families and friends.. The rain fell here a bit on Saturday, and later Friday evening. The grass sure loved the rain, as it seems to have grow since then. The plants are tall and bright colors, and fill our backyard with beauty.. The squirrels are raiding the bird feeder, as they always do. The chipmunk has come out of his hiding to grab a bite to eat.. A noisy Red Cardinal stopped by to pick berries from a tree next door. They are such a beautiful bird, and I would imagine soon I will see mom with their little babies on the back fence.. I see them there quite often, as mom shows them the place to get food.. The babies make their way along the fence like a tight rope walker.. Every once in awhile they loose their balance and stagger to one side of the top board of the fence.. I love sitting and watching them grow stronger, and get their colors.. That is one of the things I wait for each year and they have returned each year and raise a new brood of babies. Same with the Blue Jay, and many other birds..

DSCN1577.JPG        A blend of blue and yellow is bound to brighten up any spot….

This weekend brought the Finches into the backyard.. They are so tiny and beautiful.. With their bright yellow and black plumage.. They flit through the air as if they had hitched a ride on the tail of the wind.. We are all so fortunate to behold such beauty around us.. It’s almost, as if you blink you will miss something extra special.. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.. I love to watch the animals with my camera by my side. I try to capture those special moments forever as proof to my memory.. For, in the winter I can gaze back on the beauty in pictures.. Friday night, I made potato salad, and deviled eggs for the dinner on Saturday.. This way I was not burdened by the preparation of those items.. Friday was a nice day to spend sitting on the porch, and watching the world go by.. We had been talking about renting a camper and going camping for a week.. I began going through the internet trying to find a place not too far away.. I found one and it is with-in the one hundred miles I reserved for travel.. The place is quaint, and family oriented.. We drove there on Friday afternoon and booked a few days stay.. Now all we have to do is wait for the time to come around.. Personally, I can’t wait.. :0 :0

DSCN1584.JPG        Inviting falls to cool off in, or just to sit and be in love…

Saturday came early as there was still a lot to do before company came.. The steaks had to come out of the freezer, and the chicken was in the fridge, ready to go on the barbeque.. I drank my tea, and while I did that my daughter called and asked I they could come to the house earlier then mentioned.. ‘Of course I said yes.’ Their time of arrival was to be an hour and a half.. I jumped to my feet and made my way up stairs to get dressed for the day.. Vacuuming was the first thing on my list. Finished that, and got help with the bathrooms.. The dog needed to be washed, and I tried my best to get my hubby to take her to the spa.. The pet store near us has a spa area. There you can wash your dog, and they supply shampoos, conditioners, and good smelling sense for your dog..  They also give you towels, doog hair blowers, and it all costs only ten dollars.. A very good deal and easier on the back then, the bath tub.. He was reluctant to go, but after he was there he realized how much easier the work was using the spa.. I filled my time with the cleaning I still had to do.. The dog smelled fantastic and we were ready for company..

buzzy beeOne of life’s wonders, and a big part of pollination..

Turns out the hour and a half turned into about three hours.. My daughter and Shawn were riding a motor cycle, and ran into very wet weather.. They needed to stop at a Walmart and purchase new clothing and whatever they could find in the line of weather protection.. My daughter still had wet socks, and one wet boot when yhey arrived.. Shawn had a wet tee shirt, and a soaking wet helmet on the inside.. It wasn’t a good ride for them, as it was pretty chilly.  At least they arrived here safe and sound.. We talked and they relaxed in the warmth of the inside.. If anyone has been caught in the rain on a motor cycle, you will understand how uncomfortable and dangerous it is on the roads.. It was getting time to put the chicken into the barbeque. The time went by quite fast, as we neared the time for the other guests to show up. Once the rest of the guests arrived it was time to start cooking the steaks.. While I was doing the cooking, a cloud opened up and got me a bit wet. But, not enough for me to quit cooking the steaks. We set the table and everyone got a seat, and dinner was served.. I got a good review for the steaks, and how perfectly they had been cooked.. That made me feel pretty good, as I milling around making sure everyone was doing fine.. The baby was being a bit cranky, and he was hungry too. Mom gave him his bottle and he fell fast asleep.. After desert everyone talked and joked about pretty much everything.. You know, I love seeing my children, and am very proud of  the fantastic people they are today..

I just love it when a good day, and good company gather in a place of love and happiness.. I love all of you, and am proud to have you as my children..  🙂 🙂

I would like to take this time to thank all my readers, for being here to read my banter.. 🙂 🙂  Seems like I took the photos in this banter, as I have a few times.. Enjoy.. 🙂 🙂

Beautiful Day…

DSCN1477.JPG           This Dragon fly sat still while I took several photos..

www.marionbell.com/beautiful-day

This is my banter for Thursday August 15th..

Hello everyone:: Today was one of those days when you can not help but be outside. The wind was cool, while you were in the shade.. I really hope where every you may be, that you were blessed with a day like the one I had.. Thursday is to be a carbon copy of today.. If that is how it’s going to be, I will be outside most of the day again. Our dogs are used to being in the house all cozied up in their blankets, and sleeping soundly.. Today definitely messed them up good. They sat around outside waiting for me to go in the house. Their sad little faces perched on their tiny paws, was pretty hard to take.. The sight almost broke my heart.. ‘Almost.’ They look so cute when they are trying to get you to do what they want.. It makes me chuckle.. Our dogs are very attacked to me, and every where I go, you can be sure they are not far behind.. Heck.. Sometimes they are so close that I trip over them, or god forbid step on their tiny feet.. I certainly don’t want to do that to them.. Three furry, four legged best friends.. 🙂 🙂 🙂

DSCN1492.JPG        Last night the moon shone so brightly, and this is the photo I captured..

There were a few more plants in need of some tender love and care.. I removed all the yellow, and dead branches. The one plant looked like it was near the end of it’s time.. I did my best to clean it up, then gave it a blast of plant jungle juice.. Now all I have to do is keep my fingers crossed and hope it recovers.. I have a six by six plant box that I planted in the spring. Once everything was planted I covered it with a netting to keep the squirrels, and chipmunk’s out of the garden.. Today I took that net off, and cleaned the very few weeds out, and cut the dead flowers off the stems. The ground cover plants have made the base of the garden very pretty. It’s all white and purple ground cover, and various flowering plants.. It looks better than any other year, and we’ve been here for the past four years.. We are heading into our fifth year.. I’d like to keep the garden uncovered but, the rotten squirrels won’t leave it alone. They just love burring their nuts in the soil.. “Go figure.’ ‘Crazy little vermin.’ Every year I harvest seeds from the flowers and plant them in the spring.. I always forget what they are, but it’s a nice surprise when they start to flower..

DSCN1483.JPG     This is a young cat who has found the place where the birds hang out…

Tomorrow will be, clean out the barbeque.. ‘Yahoo!’ ‘I’m really excited..’ ‘Can you tell?’  It’s a filthy job, and the grease is hard to get off your body once it gets on ya.. I just have to remember not to wipe my hand nor arm across my forehead. I’ll look like I tried to grease up my face to go hunting.. We use the barbeque a lot, even for grilled cheese and garlic bread.. The garlic bread is make from a cut up baguette. The grill seems to bring out the garlic taste. Plus the bread holds up well, and has a crunch to it.. Anything you eat with a crunch is a hit.. Friday I start to prepare the deviled eggs, and the potato salad.. This way on Saturday I won’t be running around like a chicken with my head cut off.. That would not be a pretty sight.. Have you ever seen what a chicken does once it’s head is cut off?  They dance around, and sometimes they even chase ya around.. I know some of you may not like this, but it is the truth.. As a child and through till my late teens, I lived on a farm.. Eight children and we ate chicken a fair bit..

DSCN1489.JPG          This is another capture of the moon on Tuesday night…

I loved this capture of the moon as you can see the leaves of the trees. I did not think I had caught the image but there it was, on the camera.. I’m really hoping that Saturday is going to be beautiful with no rain.. The weather man mentioned sixty percent chance of rain.. But on the weather channel I seen no rain.. Well, we will see who is right on Saturday.. Well, like usual I must run.. Take care of those you love and be kind.. Till later.. Don’t try to run with your pants down… 🙂 🙂

I would like to thank all the people that read my banter each day.. You are wonderful.. 🙂 🙂  As usual the photos in my banter are taken by your truly:: ME.. Maggie.. 🙂 🙂

Relaxing…

DSCN1470.JPG          I love the textures, and colors….

www.marionbell.com/relaxing

This is my banter for Wednesday August 14th..

Hello everyone:: Today has pretty much been a day of relaxing.. Doing the little things I enjoy, and catching up on whatever I have let lag behind.. I have plenty of art pieces that someday I am going to finish off. I have one piece of art that I started on in 2002.. I found the sketch I had done, and figured it was time to bring it to life with pastels. This is my first time for oil pastels. I actually enjoyed doing the color transformation. Once that was done my hubby cut pieces of base board wood and I created a picture frame. Because the sketch has the red mountains in it, I took crushed pieces of colored stone, and attached them around on the frame.. I wanted to bring the earthy feel into the frame.. I think it turned out not too bad.. I like it..

IMG_E5197              And so… This is what I came up with.. Finished…

I never seem to do the ordinary.. I always come up with what my mind sees. As you can tell by my photographs, I see what others do not see.. I have a painting I did around the same time as I did the sketch you see here.. I did it in acrylic paints, which are easier to use.. At least that is what I think..

IMG_E5199.JPG          This is the acrylic I had done back in 2002…

This is my hubbies favorite painting… I do other forms of creating.. When I’m relaxing I create my best… All are one of a kinds, and none two are the same.. I enjoy taking photos, creating sculptures, painting, I even created a few Halloween creatures.. There are no limits to what I can achieve.. Today was very hot again. The sun was a little too much for a few plants. First thing I needed to give the droopy plants a drink of water.. It amazes me how plants can bounce back once water has been added… We have a lot of water plants that need constant water to live.. There is no neglecting them, as they will be dead in to time.. I also took a few plants and pruned them and took out all the dead flowers, and old branches.  They look one hundred percent better now.. It’s hard to keep them healthy at least during this time of the year..

DSCN1458.JPG                  Now, this looks like a pretty nice place to relax….

I did not stress over dinner today. Fries, and sausage on a bun was easy and tasted good too.. Simple eats can fill the tummy just like a full course meal.. Sometimes cooking becomes a chore that I would prefer not do some days.. I get all stressed out thinking about what to make.. Don’t miss understand me, I love cooking, but day after day is so hum drum. I feel like a robot that just repeats what has  been done a million times.. This Saturday I will be cooking for our family barbeque.. Now that I am looking forward to, and my menu has been set in stone.. I love to see people enjoy the food I create.. It will be fun to have most of the family together at the table..

DSCN1451.JPG            A nice bike ride through the camp ground…

As the day drifted away, the air became cool and bearable. So cool that sitting out on the deck was quite relaxing.. Once the sun has slipped behind the trees. The sun casts long shadow across the yard. I like that time of the day. It’s so calming. Sitting on the deck watching all kinds of people walking by. Dogs on leashes, and children complaining while asking. ‘How much further?’ You would almost they are going to die, by the performance they give their parents.. I see a lot of ladies walking and talking loudly on their cell phones. I would think, loud talking would be somewhat of a security blanket.. Away to deter those who prey on ladies who are alone in the dark.. You can hear them approach, then disappear into the darkness. I love the little children who play with no re-guard for others.. They run like lightening, and say hi to everyone.. Oh to be a child again.. I often wonder how many people would change the life, as they have it right now. And want to get a chance for a new course and direction.. This way your future would not be as it is.. Oh to be young again.. My body would not hurt anymore..

I must be on my way.. I hope to see all of you on Wednesday, as it is a new start for all of us.. Till later.. Stand tall and don’t take any unnecessary crap.. 🙂 🙂

I would like to thank all the readers who take the time out of their busy day to read my banter.. 🙂 🙂 As usual all the photos, and works of art are done by ME:: Maggie.. 🙂 🙂

gran driving red lips (2).jpgMAGS..  Thank you for your company… 🙂 🙂

Another banter…

DSCN1329.JPGAs seen through my eyes….

www.marionbell.com/another-banter

This is my banter for Friday August 9th.

Today has been a lazy kind of day. With rain in the morning and rain in the early after noon. It’s been an inside day.. Boring… I had ventured outside in the morning rain to let the pups out to do their thing. The rain was like a soft shower, where the water does not peel off you skin… The kind of showers that you just want to stand in for an hour. I know you would have pruned feet, if you stood in the shower for that long.. But, you know what I mean.. I returned to let the pups back in the house, and the rain had stopped. I could not believe how sticky, and muggy it felt after just a few minutes before. Steamy is a better way to describe the outside air. I watched from the inside of the house as I drank my one and only cup of green mint tea. The sun would be blasting  heat, then it got dark. This repeated about six or seven times. It was really weird… I just relaxed and got myself motivated for some house cleaning.. I sat playing a game I like and the next thing I knew it was eleven-thirty…. I had not even had my bowl of cereal yet… I kind of get really caught up in the game, and I loose track of time.. Once the cereal was done, I just had to get dressed… My mind was telling me, ‘don’t get dressed, no ones coming over.’ My mind made sense, but going outside in my back yard in a night shirt seemed a bit too risky to me. Up the stairs I went to dawn my clothing. It was now twelve-thirty and I needed to vacuum as soon as possible.. The puppy hair was driving me crazy..

DSCN1332.JPG    Part off our garden, I believe this is a Japanese Fern….

The kitchen sink was littered with dishes, so I started to clean them up, and clean the over dated leftovers out of the refrigerator. I like to catch all the stuff before it turn green in color. If you have ever open one of that kind of container, you will know what I mean… When I open one a container like that, I usual say to myself.. ‘Oh, penicillin.’ That is before the smell can get to me.. I opened a container of milk once that was sour. Of course the only way to see if it is sour is to smell or taste it…. This brings back memories of when I was a child, and we stayed at my aunts place over night. In the morning the milk in our glasses was sour. We had to drink that milk. That was the worst thing you could do.. So every time I would rather smell the milk than taste it. ‘Totally gross.’ With dishes and kitchen taken care of it was time to vacuum.. I dusted the rugs with a deodorizing powder from gain. If you are even going to us this… ‘Don’t.’  My rug now is stained with white powder that the vacuum won’t pick up.. Thanks to that crap. I now have to shampoo the carpets.. Yahoo! Just what I did not want to do.. I have a very good vacuum, a Dyson… I chased the dog hair around the floor as my Dyson sucked up the hair. Vacuuming done… I look out the door and it is raining so darn hard. So hard that you can actually see the rain falling in a straight down line… Now, that’s raining, or should I say pouring…

DSCN1328.JPG         Same flowers different view…

Once I had finished all the clean up I needed to do, it was time for a sit down and a drink of cold water.. It was drawing closer to the time to figure out what to have for supper… Potatoes. ‘What else could I come up with?’ ‘Hummm.’ Pork chops. There ya go, and through in a vegetable, some bread and butter, and there you have supper. Now that I knew what I was going to make for supper, and I had a couple hours till then. ‘Guess what I did?’ I played my game till dinner making time finally came around. And that was my boring day…. 🙂 🙂

I hope you all Have a great Friday, and weekend.. I will see you come Monday with either some banter or maybe a new story… Till then.. Be safe and enjoy your weekend… 🙂 🙂

I would like to say thanks to all my readers for joining me and reading my banter…. 🙂 🙂 The photos placed amongst my banter have been taken by myself.. Maggie… Hope you enjoy… 🙂 🙂

Out and about..

car.gif        Cruising down the road…

www.marionbell.com/out-and-about

This is my banter for August 8th.

Today was the kind of day for visiting and driving the car.. I don’t go out much, but today was my trip to see Parker my grand-baby and his mom.. Parker is growing like a weed. And he’s only three months, today.. I arrived just as he finished his bottle. He looked pretty sleepy. I interrupted  his nap time. He managed to smile, and talk a bit to nana.. While I was visiting, their dog was acting very strange. She was really clingy for some reason. Turns out she is like a barometer. When a storm is coming, she wants to be very close to you.. And that she was. She does not like storms with thunder, and really has problems during the storm. The funny thing is, the weather man is calling for a storm coming our way tomorrow. I will be ready for the storm… Thanks to the dog and the weather man. While I was visiting I seen the funniest thing ever. There was a talk show on about male stripers. The male host wanted to learn a few moves from the guys. He came on stage with the stripers for his lesson. The first lesson was the tearing the shirt off. That went well as he pranced out in front of the stripers with his chest pushed out. The next lesson was doing the tear away pants. He pulled the tabs on the pants and they only came off half way. He was pulling and pulling at them, but could not get them off. Finally one the ladies pulled the pants off while he was laying on the floor. He had pale green boxer shorts under the pants. The two co-hosts were killing themselves laughing as he pranced across the stage.. You had to be there.. Honestly.. And to top it all, the host looked like a peanut next to the other stripers.

purple car.jpg          Driving my car on a beautiful day……

The host was a real good sport about the whole ordeal.. Time passed by pretty darn quick, and it was time for me to get moving along. With hugs and kisses taken care of, I was off down the road. The traffic was pretty busy on the roads. I was on my way to Costco. I sat at several sets of lights before I entered the parking lot of Costco. If I metered how busy it was going to be inside by the amount of cars on the outside, this was going to fun.. I’m not a crowds person. I get way too tired after being in one for a bit of time. And I mean a bit… I found a handy cap spot, after only once around the parking lot. That’s pretty darn lucky. I usually have to park quite far away from Costco. I armed myself with the short list of items I needed to pick up. Got a cart, and there in front of me was a very packed store. Moms and children, dads with children, the older set of folks, the cart racers, and the aisle dwellers.. These shoppers come in every shape you can imagine. The basket ball shopper, the short shoppers, the digging shoppers (the ones that leave the table a total mess of the nicely stacked clothing, because the top on the bottom of the pile might be better than the top one) It’s true there out there.. I make my way to my first item, and there was an aisle dweller. I negotiated my cart past the dwellers as soon as I had a clear way.

granny car.jpg         Racing through the store…

I needed to my next thing on the list.. I cut a path behind all the busy shoppers, and went where the freezers were. I was making good time. Buns, in the cart and off I went. Next, pork chops. That took a few minutes as I picked through the top packages. Found a good one and under twenty bucks. I zigged and zagged through the traffic, to the potatoes. I looked over the bag, then sniffed it for any bad potatoes. The only thing I could smell was good clean earth. Next, crackers.. This was a little harder and took more time than I wanted it too. Finally I found them in the middle of the aisle, got it, and off to the next item.. Fruit and that was in plain sight.. I did good all items in cart. Now to the check out.. Every check out was backed up.. I stood patiently as a lady beside was doing the Zumba while she waited. It took fifteen minutes till I reach the cashier. With in a minute or two I was out of there and heading to my car.. On my way to the car I could hear someone honking their horn, and not just once or twice. I turned my head to see a lady in a white car blocking a lady in who needed to get out. This lady in the white car, was the worst picture of inconsiderate that I have ever seen. She would not move for the lady who wanted out. Two people let her know the lady wanted out, and had to leave. But, nope.. She would not move for her. The lady in the white car did move ahead to let another lady out. That car was right beside the one she still had blocked in.. Go figure, what was wrong with that woman!  Then she backs right in beside the lady she had been blocking. The lady in the white car got out of her car and hurried into the store. By the time I left the lady who was blocked in was waiting for her confiner to come out from the store. Exciting day.. Wow! Some people can be so rude..

cars passing.gif    Traffic on the roads..

The high way looked more like a race way. There were car darting in and out between cars. I picked a lane on the road and stuck to it all the way home…. I safely made a soft landing in my drive way. And so, my adventure was over for this week. Till we meet again… Be safe.. 🙂 🙂

I would like to thank all my readers for coming round to read my banter… 🙂 🙂  I want to thank all the wonder artist whos creations adorn my banter, Thanks… 🙂 🙂

Skunks…

DSC_0244.JPG            Looking for sweet nectar….

www.marionbell.com/skunks

Hello everyone… The evening is beautiful here. The day was quite warm with a rain shower early this morning. All in all, not a bad day. I hope your Tuesday was as pleasant as the one I enjoyed. I wish everyone that is under the weather, or sick a speedy recovery. When I was sick, I received some recovery messages from some very wonderful readers. I appreciate your kindness, and your wishes. Thank You! With the rain falling today, I had hoped my rotten head aches would have vanished. But, they tend to hang on like a stocker. They are relentless… GRRRRR.. And if that does not seem like enough, I have hurt my left hip. Which gives me plenty of opportunity to yell out.. ‘OUCH!’ more than usual. I seem to be falling to pieces, and there isn’t a darn thing I can do about it. Age kind of does that to all of us..

DSC_0233.JPG        Colorful flowers bring a smile to our faces…

Today, my banter with everyone is about ‘the Skunk’. That smelly little black and white creature, that comes out at night and stinks up the whole place. They have a way of making your dogs wish they had never seen them. But the dog, as protective as they are, just never see the skunk as danger. I caught one in our yard with my flash light last week. Our silly little dog, being the protector she is, ran right over to the place where the skunk had just gone through the wooden fence. Thank god, there was a Hosta between the dog and the skunk. The dog only received a very small faint bit of spray on her neck. I wondered why I could smell skunk so close to me when she came in the house. There she was trying to remove the smell from her neck. She wiggled and rubbed against the cover, but the smell did not come off. She was just a little stinky, but not enough to banish her from the house. I’m hoping she has not forgotten the insident. But, I highly doubt that she has. Heck, you can say the word ‘Squirrel!’ to her and she’s on the run, chasing the squirrels away from the bird feeder. Our other little dog goes running beside the other dog, and they try to eat each other. They are like two little kids fighting over the number one spot. They don’t bite each other they make it sound like a fight. Crazy critters…

DSC_0229.JPG             Beautiful color……

We have a house across the road, kiddy corner to us. This house has a full family of skunks living under their front deck. Now we know where the skunks are coming from. Our yard is like a fortress. There are stones, boards, sticks, and old plant clippings protecting us from the skunks. I put bleach on the wood, in the hopes this will keep them out. My rabbit does not come around anymore, even the chipmunk keeps his distance. It’s time to eliminate the skunk invasion. I’ve had enough of the smell… So, I hit the internet for some good advice… The nine step elimination prosses seemed pretty straight forward. I was armed and ready to fight.. First off.. Get rid of any fruits, nuts, berries, and any food that would attract them. Check, and double check.. Oops! The bird seed on the ground. Crap, I quickly covered it with a large board, and a couple heavy rocks. Next, protect your garbage cans with a paddle lock. Garbage is in the garage, even better. I was pumped.. Next, get rid of any fresh lawn clippings, as the seeds in the clipping attract the skunk. Check.. Haven’t mowed the lawn in a couple weeks. Trimmed bushes, and vegetation.. Done. Bright solar lights, and motion detector lights. Done. You can use a motion sensor water sprinkler that goes off if they come near. Set near where they go. No lumber or wood piles around. Good.

Onto the next step, get fox and dog urine. What? I’m not chasing my dog around the yard with a small bowl to collect the pee. Are you kidding me??? You can buy the urine from a hardware store, and also pepper spray.. It would be my luck, that if I put my finger on the trigger, the wind would start to blow hard, and I would have a face full of pepper spray.. Next, citrus peels.. Well, I never thought that one would work. You can use orange, or lemon peels spread around the yard. Next, traps.. put a 30L garbage can open end up, against a secure surface so it won’t tip over. Get a 2X4 to use as a ramp for the skunk to get to the cat food you have already put in the can. The skunk will jump in the can for the food, and it can’t climb back out. Thank god for that.. In the morning put the lid on the can, put in truck bed, and take it for a drive. Carry the can out to a clearing near a forest.. Tie a twenty foot rope to the lid, get back and pull the lid off. They say the skunk will just wonder away.. ‘Ya right!’ I wonder how many times this has failed? Or you could call pest control.. Let them do the work.. Next and final step, that makes the most sense to me. Soak old rags in ammonia, and through them under the deck, or near any other opening. Skunks do not like ammonia.. Really, I don’t either..

Well, these are just a few ways to send the skunks running.. I’m getting ammonia tomorrow, and I will try it.. Till latter.. Don’t pet skunks..

Being a detective is important to a murder scene. Along with the coroner, forensics, officers, witnesses, and signs left by the killer. The detective can begin to solve the crime committed against another human being. That’s what Winslow and maybe Sidney were going to do as their new careers.
